City of Oxford Fire Department issued the following announcement on March 7.

There is always something to do at a fire department, and it is not always answering calls.

We recently received a grant for an LED sign and will use it for safety messages and recruitment of volunteers.

With a borrowed piece of equipment, we are using this nice weather to layout the sign placement and prepare for utility installation.

Another example of “other duties” is the annual service testing of all our rated fire pumps to ensure they are ready for service and within spec.

Also, be on the lookout for hydrant flow testing as that will start this spring!
