A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Granville County Election Department on October 30, 2024. The request, made by NE Piedmont News, sought information about pre-election voting machine test reports.

In our request, we asked for specific details from the pre-election voting machine test reports. These details include the date of the test, the manufacture of the machine, the model number of the machine, and whether each machine passed or failed its respective test.
We requested this information in a PDF format under North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1. As members of the media engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
