FOIA Request to Granville County Election Department Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

NE Piedmont News, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs, has sent a request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. ยง132-1., for information regarding candidates running in the upcoming election.

The requested information includes the first, middle, and last names of all candidates as well as the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. The party affiliation of each candidate is also requested.

In addition to these details, NE Piedmont News has asked for contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, we believe access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Granville County Election Department and will continue our efforts to provide comprehensive coverage of local governmental affairs.
