In a show of unity and faith, three local hospitals—Maria Parham Health, Maria Parham Franklin, and Person Memorial Hospital—participated in the National Day of Prayer with simultaneous gatherings across their campuses. At noon, staff, volunteers, and leaders paused to pray for the nation, their hospitals and patients, and families everywhere.
At Maria Parham Health’s main campus in Henderson, Chaplains William Brodie and Alfreda Evans led the prayer as part of the Maria Parham Volunteer Chaplain Program. In Louisburg, Pastor Jeremiah Baker from Flat Rock Baptist Church guided the event at Maria Parham Franklin. Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro hosted Pastor Tom Gearhart from Somerset Baptist Church and Pastor Don Sharp for their gathering.
“These moments of collective prayer remind us that, despite our diverse backgrounds, we are united in hope, compassion, and the shared mission of healing,” said Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health. “We are grateful to the pastors and chaplains who led us today and to every team member who joined us in this observance.”
The National Day of Prayer is an annual event inviting people of all faiths to reflect together. The gatherings at Maria Parham and Person Memorial communities highlighted spiritual unity’s role in healthcare.
