Maria Parham Franklin has donated $5,000 to First in Families of North Carolina (FIFNC) after hosting its first Stomp the Stigma 5K event in May. The donation was presented on July 28 and will be used to support mental and behavioral health services for residents of Franklin County through FIFNC’s programs.
Emilee Johnson, Vice President of Operations at Maria Parham Health, said, “Connecting with organizations like First in Families of North Carolina allows us to expand our impact beyond hospital walls. We are deeply grateful to our community, partners, and participants for helping make this donation possible through our Stomp the Stigma 5K.”
First in Families of North Carolina is a statewide initiative that assists people with disabilities and their families by connecting them with resources to help achieve wellness goals. The organization was founded by families seeking new ways to both provide and receive support.
Maria Parham Franklin expressed appreciation for Elliot Clark from Vaya Health, Dennis Morgan from First in Families, and Debby Wells from First in Families for their leadership roles. The hospital also thanked the community for participating in the race and announced plans to hold the next event on May 30, 2026.
