Maria Parham Health has announced the start of a significant renovation project for its Emergency Department, aiming to better serve vulnerable populations in Vance and Franklin counties. The renovation is set to begin on March 17, 2025, with a focus on enhancing care for individuals facing behavioral health challenges.

The project will occur in two phases. Initial preparations by the hospital’s Facilities team have been completed, including temporary modifications to the main lobby area with new flooring and temporary walls. These changes will create dedicated spaces for waiting areas, triage zones, registration desks, and other essential facilities to ensure patient care continues smoothly during construction. While the front portion of the current Emergency Department will be closed during the renovation, the hospital’s main lobby will serve as a temporary intake, registration, and emergency care area for patients arriving at Maria Parham’s Henderson campus by personal vehicle. Ambulances will continue using the current ambulance intake bay. Temporary signage will guide patients starting Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Phase One of the project is expected to last approximately 16 weeks, beginning March 17, 2025.

This renovation is funded through an initiative led by several regional bodies including the Vance County District Attorney’s Office and Granville Vance Public Health. The funding reflects a collective commitment to improving mental health treatment services in the region.

The project aims to create designated areas within the Emergency Department tailored for behavioral health and mental health patients. These spaces are intended to provide a safer environment for both patients and care team members while improving hospital efficiency.

“We are excited to begin this important renovation, which will allow us to provide even better care to those who need it most,” said Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health. “This is a huge step forward in our ongoing efforts to improve care for vulnerable populations in our community, and we are grateful for the support of our partners and the local community.”

Maria Parham Health encourages public engagement with updates available on their official Facebook page and through local news outlets.

The organization remains committed to maintaining high standards of care throughout this process.
