Maria Parham Health celebrated its 100th Day of its 100th Year on April 10th with a themed event reflecting the hospital’s founding era, the 1920s. Held at the facility, the John T. Church Classroom was temporarily recreated as The Century Club, mimicking a Prohibition-era speakeasy complete with jazz music and vintage décor. Guests attended dressed in period-appropriate attire, such as flappers and gangsters.

The menu featured era-inspired dishes including deviled eggs, bruschetta, meatballs, crab-stuffed shrimp, and a drink called “Giggle Juice,” synonymous with the 1920s. Attendees also enjoyed a silent movie screening of Charlie Chaplin’s “The Circus,” enhancing the historical atmosphere.

Donna Young, Chairperson of the MPH 100th Anniversary Committee, stated, “This was more than just a party—it was a moment to honor our roots and the incredible legacy of care that Maria Parham Health has provided for a full century. The energy, the history, and the team spirit were all on display. We couldn’t be more proud of what our hospital has accomplished.”

The celebration is part of a yearlong series marking Maria Parham Health’s centennial. The 100th Anniversary Committee, which includes members from various hospital departments, is planning several projects. Among them are a History Wall in the hospital lobby and a Time Capsule meant to preserve the year 2025 for future generations.
