Maria Parham Health observed National Hospital Week from May 11 to May 17, celebrating its healthcare workers with a series of events. The week aimed to honor the staff who provide compassionate and excellent care daily.
National Hospital Week, established by the American Hospital Association in 1921, recognizes hospitals and their essential personnel, including physicians, nurses, therapists, engineers, food service workers, and volunteers. It highlights the significant role hospitals play in community well-being.
Maria Parham Health organized themed activities throughout the week. Monday featured an Ice Cream Sundae Bar for staff to enjoy custom creations. Food trucks offered coffee and snacks to maintain energy levels.
Tuesday was Spread Kindness Day when team members performed random acts of kindness for colleagues. On Wednesday, Sweet Treats Day provided more food trucks and dessert-themed delights across the campus.
Thursday’s theme was Throwback Thursday with team members dressing in attire from favorite decades like the ’70s and ’80s. The main event was the Annual MPH Hospital Picnic with a feast catered by the hospital’s Dietary Team.
The celebration ended on Friday with MPH Day as staff wore new 100th Anniversary t-shirts gifted by the hospital. Food trucks concluded a week filled with appreciation and festivities.
Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health, expressed gratitude for his team’s dedication: “Hospital Week is a time to step back and reflect on the extraordinary dedication our staff brings to their work every single day. At Maria Parham Health, our team is the heartbeat of this hospital, and I couldn’t be prouder of the way they care for our patients, our community, and each other.”
Celebrating its centennial year in 2025, Maria Parham Health used Hospital Week as a reminder of its mission to provide high-quality care while honoring those who make it possible.
