Maria Parham Health has obtained a Certificate of Occupancy for the second phase of its Emergency Department renovation at the Henderson campus. This development is part of the hospital’s plan to expand care, particularly for patients with behavioral health needs in Henderson and Vance County.
The construction for this phase began in September 2025. The focus has been on providing dedicated spaces within the Emergency Department to address the increasing demand for behavioral and mental health services. These changes are also intended to enhance patient safety, privacy, and dignity.
“This milestone represents more than just the completion of a construction phase—it reflects our deep commitment to caring for every patient who comes through our doors,” said Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health. “By expanding and modernizing our Emergency Department, we’re ensuring that our community has access to compassionate, comprehensive care, especially for those in crisis who need it most.”
The upgrades include specialized treatment areas designed for behavioral health patients and operational improvements aimed at making patient flow more efficient and supporting staff well-being.
Funding for this renovation was secured in October 2023 through a joint effort involving the Vance County District Attorney’s Office, Granville Vance Public Health, the Vance County Board of Commissioners, and the North Carolina General Assembly. This collaborative approach highlights a regional commitment to strengthening mental health care infrastructure and improving outcomes for local patients.
