Maria Parham Health has launched a new Aquablation therapy program aimed at improving treatment for men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as enlarged prostate. The first procedures were performed by Dr. Adrian Ogle, who treated three patients. All patients were discharged the next day and showed positive early results.
Aquablation therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a heat-free waterjet to remove excess prostate tissue. The method combines real-time imaging and precision, allowing treatment to be tailored to each patient. This approach is designed to increase accuracy and lower the risk of side effects. Patients can benefit from faster recovery times, less invasive procedures, and preservation of urinary and sexual function.
“We are thrilled to bring Aquablation therapy to our community,” said Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health. “This program represents our commitment to offering the most advanced, evidence-based treatments to the patients we serve. I’m incredibly proud of our urology team, peri-operative staff, and leadership for their collaboration and dedication in making this launch a success. Seeing our first patients recover so quickly reinforces why this technology is so important for our region.”
With the introduction of Aquablation therapy, Maria Parham Health continues its efforts to expand access to high-quality care that uses advanced technology. The hospital plans to offer this treatment option to more patients in the future.
