Sen. Everitt files bill in North Carolina Senate to maintain AIG services in alternative programs

A new bill filed by Sen. Everitt seeks to guarantee that gifted students receive consistent educational support even when placed in alternative learning programs, according to the North Carolina State Senate.

The bill, filed as SB 319 on March 17 during the 2025 regular session, was formally listed with the short title: ‘LSAUs to Maintain AIG Services in Alt. Progs.’

In essence, this bill mandates that schools in North Carolina continue to deliver educational services to academically or intellectually gifted (AIG) students when these students are placed in alternative learning programs or schools.
