The Vance County Republican Party of North Carolina supported a report from a conservative group that links funding to PBS and NPR to a lack of personal protective equipment for medical professionals on the frontlines helping COVID-19 patients.
The Media Research Group, a conservative analysis organization, said that the $75 million of federal funding to PBS and NPR could have purchased more than 350 million gloves and 190 million masks, according to the Facebook post. The research group added, "This is what America did not get because of PBS/NPR."
"How stupid is that," the Vance County Republican Party posted to its Facebook page on March 31. "And they keep voting these people back in office."
Nationwide, medical professionals dealing with COVID-19 patients have said they need more personal protective equipment, particularly in New York, the epicenter of the highly-contagious virus. There have been many coordinated efforts from nonprofits and community groups to find and donate these products.
