CITY OF CREEDMOOR: NC Highway 56 Traffic Pattern

637244640732170000

City of Creedmoor issued the following announcement on May 14.

This week the North Carolina Department of Transportation will finalize the traffic shift on the new NC Highway 56 connector from Wilton Avenue to Lake Road.

The final transition will consist of a few steps for motorists to be aware of on the day the new traffic pattern begins:

  1. Crews will begin by smoothing the pavement on the westbound side of Lake Road starting at 9:00 a.m. This will cause Lake Road to reduce to one-lane of traffic with flaggers in the roadway.
  2. By the afternoon, crews will route traffic in both directions to one lane of the new connector segment to finish smoothing pavement on the other side of the roadway. Flaggers will remain in the roadway.
  3. Once the pavement is ready on both sides for a smooth cross-over, both lanes will open on the NC-56 connector. This should occur no later than 4:00 p.m.
With the traffic shift, the multi-turn jog currently needed to stay on NC Highway 56 will be eliminated and the new signalized intersection at Wilton/Durham Avenues will be active.
