North Carolina’s Piedmont passenger rail service has resumed operations, with trains 73 and 76 operating between Raleigh and Charlotte, transportation officials said.
Passenger rail service operations were suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Transportation said in an Aug. 5 news release, adding that transit resumed on Aug. 10.
Train 73 departs Raleigh at 6:30 a.m. and arrives in Charlotte at 9:40 a.m. Train 76 leaves from Charlotte at 3:15 p.m. and arrives in Raleigh at 6:26 p.m.
Amtrak is increasing cleaning services and asking all passengers to wear a face covering, transportation officials said in the release. A face covering is required and the number of passengers per trip will be limited to abide by social distancing.
More information on reservations or trips can be found on the Amtrak website. Passengers can also modify their trips or cancel a reservation without being charged a fee.
