CITY OF HENDERSON: Community Cleanup Day ~ April 23rd

Cleanupday

City of Henderson issued the following announcement on Mar. 21.

In an effort to combat litter on our streets and in our neighborhoods, the City of Henderson is holding CommUNITY Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 23, 2022.  Last Spring and Fall, City employees and citizens, in partnership with the NCDOT, picked up litter that culminated in over 2,000 lbs. of trash.

This is a great opportunity to work together to clean our streets, neighborhoods, and areas in need of junk removal.  We are reaching out to all concerned citizens of Henderson that take pride in the beautification and success of their community.   Please join us in taking control of a growing litter issue and be a part of this movement.

    • Identify an area to clean up
    • Form a group (churches, civic groups, schools, neighborhoods, etc.)
    • Join your community on April 23rd in a city-wide cleanup event
    • Upon request, the City of Henderson will provide trash bags and will pick up filled bags left in predesignated areas
If you do not have a group or organization to work with, sign up below to work alongside City employees.  Please complete the signup form and sign the waiver and meet at the Dr. Andrea L. Harris Operations and Service Center -  at 8 am on the day of the event. We have a limited number of safety vests and gloves.  PLEASE wear closed-toe shoes and we recommend long pants to protect from tall grasses and insects.  You will need your own transportation (or plan to ride with someone you know).  We ask that everyone work in groups (with no one under age 12) and there must be at least one adult over the age of 21 in each group.  Don’t forget Sunscreen and a water bottle!
