FOIA Request to Vance County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

In a bid to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NE Piedmont News have sent a request for public records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1. The request was made specifically for the pre-election test reports of election voting machines in electronic format, preferably PDF.

The requested report should contain specific fields such as the test date, machine manufacture details, machine model number, and the status of the machine (whether it passed or failed the test).

As a media organization committed to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

This request is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that all election-related processes are transparent and reliable.
