FOIA Request Sent to Warren County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025

FOIA Request to Warren County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NE Piedmont News have sent a request for public records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1.

Our request was directed towards obtaining a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The details we sought included the candidates' first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation of the candidate; and all contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.

Access to these public records is essential for us at NE Piedmont News to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the Warren County Election Department regarding our request.
