U.S. Representative Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) has voiced her staunch support for the impeachment inquiry into President Biden, following the passing of the Impeachment Inquiry Resolution by the House of Representatives. The impeachment inquiry was confirmed with a 221 to 212 vote in the House, strictly along party lines, with all Democrats present opposing the inquiry.

Foxx expressed her determination for the inquiry in no uncertain terms: “Full steam ahead.” She further elaborated on her stance in a post, stating: “The impeachment inquiry into President Biden is a necessary step towards uncovering the truth, just like the process underway to expose Secretary Mayorkas’ dereliction of duty at the southern border – both of which I support through regular order. Impeachment is not done lightly, but it must be done right. We will not be deterred from uncovering the truth and holding this administration accountable.”

According to a Fox News report, this vote underscored Republicans’ drive for cooperation from the White House while all Democrats present opposed it, creating distinct reactions among parties. Investigations led by GOP committees have centered on allegations of Biden exploiting his vice presidency for personal gain, particularly focusing on his brother James Biden and Hunter Biden who faces federal inquiries on tax and firearm charges. This vote came after Hunter Biden’s unexpected appearance at the U.S. Capitol where he was initially scheduled for a closed-door deposition with the Oversight Committee.

Speaker Mike Johnson also weighed in on these developments as reported by NewsMax: “We do not take this responsibility lightly and will not prejudge the investigation’s outcome. But the evidentiary record is impossible to ignore.”

Foxx’s website provides additional context about her role. Foxx represents North Carolina’s 5th District in the U.S. House of Representatives and holds Chairmanship of the House Committee on Education and Workforce. Her previous roles include serving as Secretary of the House Republican Conference from 2013 to 2016. Her district covers the central western region of North Carolina, spanning from the Appalachian Mountains to the western suburbs of the Piedmont Triad.
