The Piedmont Triad Regional Food Council (PTRFC) has started hosting virtual meetings with stakeholders in the regional food economy to determine how to provide an equitable and economically sustainable food system.
The initial meeting launched on July 8 focusing on "What is a Food Council." The Wednesday, July 22 topic is "Land access for beginning farmers."
The PTRFC website states that the live discussions are part of a series known as Food Talks and are being held through the end of August. The last talk is Wednesday, Aug. 26. The series will cover many topics including land access for beginning farmers, community gardening, agritourism, meat and poultry processing, and food system planning.
“The PTRFC is seeking input from community members, farmers, food producers, supply chain businesses, and anyone involved in the regional food economy to join in the conversation about how to connect, rebuild, and move forward together to build a more robust food system that serves everyone in the Piedmont Triad,” the PTRFC website stated.
The meetings, which are being held in partnership with Carolina Creative Works, are accessible through Zoom, the PTRFC website or Facebook Live.
