Town of Stem issued the following announcement on Oct. 2.
Now that Hot Sauce has come and gone, we hope you will join us at the Littlejohn Parking Lot for a smaller event that is worth checking out too! We are setting up a socially distanced footprint for Oxford's first CultureFest downtown which will be this Saturday from 11a - 3p. Check out the offerings below!
11:30 - Halau Na Pualani Kuukonani Hawaiian Dancers
12p - Juan Gomez, Latino Guitarist/Vocalist
12:30p - Donna Washington, storyteller extraordinaire (who will have children's books on sale there as well)
1:20p - African American Dance Ensemble
1:55p - Cane Creek Cloggers
2:30p - Dance Ortiz - Mexican Folk Dance
1:50p - St Cyprian's African Drummers
There will be 4 different craft tables for kids to make mandalas, masks, paper flowers, and string beads, as well as food trucks, ice cream, wine, beer, and various vendors.
Afterwards, DT restaurants will be featuring special dishes that aren't on their regular menus: Greek Spanakopita at Oasis, Egyptian Beef Sambusas at Milano's, Nigerian Chicken Suya, Jollof Rice, cocktails at the Orpheum, Caribbean Jerk Wings at Tobacco Wood, Artisan Pizzas and house meatballs at Strong Arm, with Jazz keyboard by Detroit Yancey outside at the Hub, which will have their usual selection of wine and craft beers.
Come check it out and get a little extra culture, recreation, and yummy tastes without having to drive for it!
