Town of Stem issued the following announcement on Nov. 24.
We have had recent reports that our number is being spoofed and a man is asking for monetary donations. We will never call and ask for donations or run a fundraising campaign of that nature. The holiday season is upon us and so we know scammers may be ramping up, but we wanted everyone to be aware and to ignore this if you are the recipient of one of these calls.
