COUNTY OF GRANVILLE: Notice of Public Hearing May 2, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.

County of Granville issued the following announcement on Apr. 22.

Granville County will hold a public hearing to obtain a Closeout Report on the County’s 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Economic Development for Strong Arm Baking. The County received a $300,000 CDBG grant to assist in the renovations of a 9,000 square foot building located at 117 Main Street in downtown Oxford. To bring the building to the standards needed to operate Strong Arm Baking, extensive renovations were necessary. Those renovations included Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Sprinklers, Painting, Exhaust Doors, Ceiling, Flooring, Tile, Countertops, Stairs, Framing, and connected exteriors such as Canopies and Stairs totaling approximately $605,000. Other project costs include $150,000 for equipment, $5,000 for environmental review and planning, and $25,000 for grant administration. Strong Arm Baking contributed $485,000 toward the project. As a result of the project, 23 new jobs were created. Sixty-five percent of the jobs are held by persons residing in households of low to moderate income. 

All interested persons please take notice that a public hearing will be held by the Granville County Board of Commissioners pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 158-7.1.  The public hearing will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 7:00 PM or shortly thereafter in the auditorium of the Granville County Expo and Convention Center, located at 4185 US Highway 15 South. Written comments received prior to the opening of the Public Hearing will be considered and may be sent to Michael Felts, County Manager, 141 Williamsboro Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
