Maria Parham Health marked its 100th anniversary on January 17, 2025, celebrating a century of service to the community. The event commemorated the hospital's incorporation date in 1925 and highlighted its historical significance and future aspirations.

Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health, addressed attendees, reflecting on the institution's journey and impact over the years. "As we reflect on this momentous occasion, we honor not just our hospital’s past, but the people who have made it all possible—our caregivers, our patients, and the community that has supported us every step of the way," said Beard. He emphasized the hospital's transformation from a small facility to a modern healthcare provider.

The history of Maria Parham Health began in 1924 when five physicians from Henderson established what was initially called Annie Lee Hospital. It was renamed Maria Parham Hospital in 1925 to honor Mrs. Maria Southerland Parham. The hospital opened with ten patients in July 1926.

Over the decades, Maria Parham Health expanded its capacity and services through various developments: an addition in 1943 increased bed capacity; it became a not-for-profit entity in 1944; land donations and new constructions occurred between 1960-1965; further expansions continued into the late 20th century with new buildings and wings added.

In recent years, significant changes included joining Duke LifePoint Healthcare System in 2011 and reopening Franklin Regional Hospital as part of their network in 2018.

Beard acknowledged contributions from healthcare professionals throughout its history. "While we celebrate our past, we are equally focused on the future," he stated. "We are committed to continuing to provide outstanding healthcare services."

Maria Parham Health aims to continue offering compassionate care for many more decades while adapting to evolving healthcare needs.
