Town of Butner issued the following announcement on Aug. 18.
Attached is the termination proclamation by Mayor Turner ending the COVID-19 State of Emergency for the Town of Butner.
WHEREAS, COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that can result in serious illness or death by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is a new strain of coronavirus previously unidentified in humans and which can spread from person to person; and,
WHEREAS, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 is a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on January 30, 2020;an
d WHEREAS, on January 31, 2020, the United States Department of Health and Human Services Secretary declared a public health emergency in the United States for COVID-19 under Section 391 of the Public Health Service Act; and WHEREAS, on March 10, 2020, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper by Executive Order 116 declared a State of Emergency for the State of North Carolina based on the public health emergency posed by COVID-19 and has since issued numerous Executive Orders amending the initial Executive Order, and
WHEREAS, on March 23, 2020, the Mayor of the Town ofBunter issued a declaration of a State of Emergency for the Town ofButner, and
WHEREAS, on July 11, 2022 the Governor of the State of North Carolina, Governor Cooper stated that the COVID-19 State of Emergency will be lifted on August 15, 2022; and WHEREAS, the Town ofButner wishes to align with statewide public health and safety protocols regarding COVID-19, NOW,
THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority vested in me as the Mayor of the Town ofButner under Article 1 A of Chapter 166A of the North Carolina General Statutes and Chapter 30, State of Emergency of the Town of Butner, Code of Ordinances, I, Terry Turner, Mayor of the Town of Butner, North Carolina, hereby declare and proclaim effective August 16, 2022 at 8 AM:
A. A State of Emergency no longer exists within the Town.
B. The State of Emergency that was issued on the 23rd day of March, 2020 is Terminated
C. I direct that copies of this Termination of the Butner State of Emergency be disseminated
(a) WEBEOC,
(b) to the news media and other organizations calculated to bring its contents to the attention of the general public;
(c) to be filed with the Town of Butner Clerk; and
(d) to be distributed to others as necessaiy to ensure proper implementation of this declaration.
